MilkyWan TV app privacy policy
What the MilkyWan TV app processes, what it keeps on your device, and what it never sends.
This page covers the MilkyWan TV app for Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Android TV and Google TV. It supplements the site’s legal notice (in French).
Controller
MilkyWan, a French non-profit association (loi 1901), 4 B square Édouard Mouriquand, 69009 Lyon, France. Contact: hv+publication@milkywan.fr.
In short
The app contains no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party analytics or audience measurement tool. No data is sold or shared. It is only used to watch MilkyWan TV channels.
What is sent to MilkyWan
Linking the device to your account
So that the device can play channels, the app links it to your subscriber account in Univers, MilkyWan’s subscriber area. It sends:
- an installation identifier, generated at random by the app, which cannot identify you elsewhere;
- the generic device name (“Apple TV”, “iPhone”, “iPad” or “Mac”) or, on Android, its model (for example “Pixel 10a”), and its platform.
Univers also records the device’s IP address and the date of its last access. This information is used to list your devices in Univers and to revoke them.
Playing channels
Each stream request to tv.milkywan.fr carries a stream token. Our server logs record the IP address and the requested channel, for security and troubleshooting.
What stays on your device
- A device token and a stream token, valid for 24 hours, are kept in the device keychain, or encrypted with the Keystore on Android.
- Your settings (audio language, subtitles, France 3 regional edition, ultra high definition, favourites, programme reminders) are stored on the device only. Nothing about them is sent.
- The advanced statistics shown by the app are computed on the device and never sent.
Crash reports
If you allow it in your device settings, Apple (through TestFlight or the App Store) or Google (through Google Play) sends developers anonymous crash reports. These are Apple’s and Google’s reports, governed by their privacy policies; the app sends no others.
Retention
- Device link (installation identifier, name, platform, last IP address and last access date): as long as the device remains linked to your account.
- Stream server logs: fourteen days.
Signing a device out
You can revoke a device at any time, from Univers, or with “Sign out” in the app settings. The device’s tokens then stop working.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to object to and restrict its processing, and to data portability. To exercise them, write to hv+publication@milkywan.fr. If, after contacting us, you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
